The Business Instructional Facility (BIF) is implementing “green” parking spaces in its main lot. These spaces will be designated for energy efficient vehicles, such as hybrid, electric or low fuel consumption cars. These spots will have the same parking rules as regular metered spots in that lot. This initiative is an additional effort to not only market BIF as an energy efficient, “green” building, but will also contribute towards efforts of obtaining Platinum Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for the building, making it one of 7 Platinum LEED certified buildings in the world.
Write a press release to the campus community about the implementation of these parking spots. Explain the benefits of these spaces and how people who normally park in that lot will be affected. Assume this press release will be issued to publications such as the Daily Illini, faculty newsletters, the campus website, etc.
