Public Affairs is responsible for developing strategies to make the best use of campus communications vehicles, as well as day-to-day management of these channels.
The Illinois homepage (illinois.edu) is managed by Public Affairs. It is designed to reach every possible campus audience and offers information to demonstrate the breadth of excellence across the campus. Some of the specific vehicles on the home page include:
Homepage Header Slider Show
Images selected for use as the banner image at the top of the campus homepage are carefully chosen to reflect the unique excellence of the university. The slideshow content may be related to news, discoveries, programs or university-wide events.
Homepage Story Boxes
There are nine smaller boxes near the middle of the homepage that are used to share information and stories from across the campus. These are intended to show a diversity of topics and experiences.
Featured Events Calendar
The homepage includes a bar of four events that represent events that are strategic and of interest to a wide variety of our audience. These are shifted nearly daily.
Social Media Channels
Our university-level social media channels have more than 800,000 followers across all platforms. Through careful and strategic content creation and curation, these channels ensure the university is sharing the Illinois story with the world on a consistent basis:
