INSTITUTE for GENOMIC BIOLOGY
In 2013, a team of Illinois researchers led by entomology professor Gene Robinson, discovered that some honey bees have distinct personalities. The researchers found thousands of distinct differences in gene activity in the brains of scouting and nonscouting bees, and further found the same genes may be used by insects, humans and other animals in the evolution of behavior.
